How to Verify a Healthcare Recruitment Agency
December 20245 min read
Many nurses use recruitment agencies to find international positions. Here's how to verify if an agency is legitimate.
For UK Recruitment Agencies
- Check registration with the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC)
- Verify they're on the NHS Approved Frameworks list
- Look for reviews on Glassdoor and Indeed
- Check Companies House for registration details
For Indian Recruitment Agencies
- Must be registered with eMigrate (emigrate.gov.in)
- Check NORKA-ROOTS registration for Kerala-based agencies
- Verify POE (Protector of Emigrants) license
- Check with the Ministry of External Affairs
Red Flags in Agencies
- • Demands large upfront payments
- • Guarantees job placement
- • Claims to waive IELTS/OET
- • Uses personal email addresses (Gmail, Yahoo)
- • No physical office address
- • Pressures you to decide quickly
Pro Tip
Legitimate agencies are paid by employers, not candidates. If an agency asks you for money beyond nominal processing fees, be very cautious.
